How do I become a member of the Geggie Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO)?
If you are the parent or guardian of a child attending Geggie Elementary, you are already a member of the PTO. There are no dues to pay, no forms to complete, and no secret handshakes. Come to a meeting and find out how you can help make your child's school even better than it already is.
What does it mean to be a member of the PTO?
That depends on you! We invite you to become an active participant in your student's education by being an active participant at Geggie Elementary. The level of involvement is up to you. Whether you chair a PTO committee, participate on a committee, volunteer in the classroom, read with your child at night, or visit for lunch with your children, you play an essential role at Geggie Elementary.
Why should I be a participating member of the PTO?
"When schools, families, and communities work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer, and like school more. - January 2003 report from the National Center for Family & Community Connections with Schools at the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory
Participation through volunteering allows you to be "hands-on" with your child's education. Our children love to see us in this environment where they spend so many hours a day. You get the opportunity to get to know your children's teachers and your children's friends.
How can I get involved/volunteer with the PTO?
Join us at a meeting to find out how to get involved today. We're always looking for more volunteers.
In March/April of every school year, we put out a request for committee leads and volunteers to sign up for events and activities to take place during the upcoming school year. Look for that information on our website, ParentSquare newsletter, and Faceboook page.
When does the PTO hold meetings?
Our monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month from August to May. We meet at 6pm in the Geggie library. All parents/guardians and Geggie staff are welcome at PTO meetings.
If a meeting is cancelled due to weather or school closures, it will be posted on our PTO Facebook page and on this website.
*Note, our May 2026 meeting will be held on the 2nd Wednesday due to a scheduling conflict.
What is the Geggie PTO Connection?
Geggie PTO Connection is our weekly Saturday newsletter sent out via ParentSquare during the school year. Every Geggie family should automatically receive this communication through ParentSquare.
This newsletter provides you with the most up to date information on PTO events and activities including how to get involved.
